Leicester is home to around 11,000 people and over 300 businesses. The former Leicester College merged under the Becker Collge name in 1997 and is still a Becker College campus today. Leicester College was founded in 1782 which makes it one of the oldest colleges in the United States. The Leicester town government is similar to many New England town in the Town Meeting style of government. This included five Selectmen and one Town Administrator.
